The Gisèle Faubert Foundation golf tournament mobilizes the community

$109,771 raised for the construction of a palliative care home in Montérégie Ouest.

Over two hundred guests attended the 2nd Fondation Gisèle-Faubert benefit golf tournament held on June 9 at the Belle Vue Golf Club in Léry, under the honorary presidency of Mr. Marcel Bergeron of Groupe Jean-Coutu.

On this occasion, the community of Mercier, Delson, St-Mathieu, Léry, Châteauguay, St-Philippe, Ste-Catherine and Ste-Clotilde, as well as Marie-Belle Gendron, Member of the National Assembly for Châteauguay, gathered to support the Foundation’s efforts to build the future palliative care home.

According to Board Chair Danielle Savoie, “With the $109,771 raised at this event, I can safely say that we are well on our way to completing this project on schedule, thanks to the invaluable generosity of our municipalities, sponsors, collaborators and ambassadors, to whom I extend my warmest thanks. The growth, aging and pressing needs of the population throughout the Montérégie Ouest region confirm that this project responds to a need to offer warm support to families who are living through a pivotal moment in their history.”

For her part, the newly-appointed General Manager, Sylvie Gamache, reiterated that the project will be able to continue on its course with confidence in the years to come. « The entire Foundation team is proud to contribute to this project. With the start of construction projected for 2024, we’ll stay the course to rally as many families, friends and colleagues as possible, and our major fundraising campaign is in the works. »

As for the personal involvement of Mr. Marcel Bergeron, Director of The Jean Coutu Group and Honorary Chairman, it stems from the very mission of the Foundation: « I didn’t hesitate to get involved. It’s by getting involved that we’ll be able to build the palliative care home ».

Well-known actress Nathalie Malette, a native of Beauharnois, has agreed to support the Foundation as a Grand Ambassador. She addressed the guests, inviting them to unite in support of the mission.

As part of this colorful day, the organizers took the opportunity to warmly thank the Jean-Coutu Group (Châteauguay, Mercier, Beauharnois) and the 35 sponsors who contributed to the event’s success, as well as their partners Desjardins and Gravité.
